An earthquake is a vibration or shock that occurs on the surface of the Earth.

Earthquakes are usually caused by the movement of the Earth's crusts (Earth
plates). The word earthquake is also used to indicate the origin of the earthquake
occurrence. The plates always collide and cause earthquake.

There are 5 kinds of earthquake:

1. Volcanic earthquake

This earthquake caused by magma activity, which usually occurs before the
eruption of volcano. If the activity of the volcano becomes higher, it will
cause an explosion that also will cause of earthquake. The earthquake is only
felt in the around volcanoes.

2. Tectonics earthquake

This earthquake caused by tectonic activity, a shift in plate tectonic

plate suddenly has a very small or very large strength. This earthquake
produced a lot of damage or natural disasters on earth, a strong
earthquake vibration can spread to other parts of the earth. Tectonic
earthquake caused by a removable is happening because of plate
tectonic plate shift like a rubber band being pulled and released
abruptly. The theory of plate tectonics (plate tectonics) explains that
the earth consists of several layers of rock, most areas of the crust will
float and float in layers like snow. Layers collided with each other. This
is what causes tectonic earthquake.

3. Earthquake Collision

The earthquake was caused by a meteor or asteroid collision that fell

to earth, an earthquake of this is rare.

4. Earthquake Ruins

This earthquake usually occurs in limestone areas or in areas of

mining, and this earthquakes are rare and localized.

5. Artificial Earthquakes

Artificial earthquake is the earthquake that caused by human

activities, such as dynamite explosion, nuclear or hammers that hit the
earth's surface.
Most earthquakes caused by the release of energy generated by the
pressure of the plate’s movement. The pressure is accumulated and
eventually it can’t be held and is released in the form of tremors. At that
moment an earthquake will happen. Several other earthquakes can also
occur due to movements of magma inside the volcano. Such an earthquake
could be symptoms of impending volcanic eruptions.

Earthquakes are most likely to cause a tsunami is the earthquake that

occurred on the sea bed. Causes of the tsunami can come from three
sources, namely earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and avalanches that occur
on the sea bed. From the three causes of tsunami, earthquake is the main
cause. Large or small tsunami wave is determined by the characteristics of
the earthquake that causes it.

How to save our self when an earthquake happens?

First, stay calm and do not panic. If you are in the room, immediately run
out of room to avoid the roof or the building that collapsed.

Second, do not pass the narrow streets or climb because of the danger of
debris or landslide

Third, pay attention to evacuating techniques. Wear loose clothing and bring
the necessary items only. If the earthquake is strong enough to cause
tsunami, flee to high ground.

Fourth, get the right information through television, radio, information from
the firemen, policemen. Do not believe the issues that are not true.

Seventh, if an earthquake happens while you're driving a vehicle, do not

use sudden braking or the emergency brake. Reduce speed gradually and
stop your vehicle on the shoulder of the road. Do not stop at the gas station,
under a high voltage cable, or under the overpass. After that, follow the
police or traffic control.
