 o 지원가능대학 : 국립국제교육원이 선정한 61개 대학 및 대학원대학
* 공관추천자(입양인 단체)는 아래 대학중 1 ~ 5지망대학을 명시하여 거주국 한국공관에 지원서류 제출
하고, 대학추천지원자는 아래 대학 중 1개 대학에 지원서류를 제출
* 대학별 입학가능한 학문분야 및 학과에 관한 자세한 내용은 국립국제교육원 홈페이지에 추가로 안내할
예정이며, 지원자는 반드시 이중에서 입학가능한 학문분야 및 학과를 선택하여야 함.

* 단, 등록금 지원 초과분(학기당 500만원 이상)을 대학에서 지원하면 전문대학원 입학을 허가
* 야간강의, 계절강의, 통신강의 등 일반대학원의 강의 형태가 다른 대학원 입학불허
o 모집과정 : 석사과정, 박사과정, 석·박사통합과정
*석·박사통합과정은 입학 당시부터 석사과정과 박사과정을 통합으로 운영하는 과정이며, 석사과정으
로 입학하여 일정 기간이 지난 후 성적, 자격 등을 심사하여 박사과정으로 연계시키는 과정은 석·박사
통합과정으로 인정하지 아니함
* 석·박사통합과정은 한정된 대학에만 개설되어 있으니 지원자는 추천대학이나 입학을 희망하는 대학
에 통합과정 설치 및 입학가능 여부를 반드시 확인하고 지원서에 기재
* 특히 5년 과정의 석·박사통합과정에 지원하는 경우에는 초기 4년 과정만 지원함을 인지하고 지원

4. 2010 선발 주요내용
o 추천기관 : 재외공관, 입양인단체, 국내대학에서 추천
※ 이중지원 불가 : 재외공관(입양인단체)과 국내대학 이중지원자 또는 국내의 두 개 이상의 대학에서 동
시에 추천한 자는 모두 불합격 처리함(한 기관에서만 추천을 받아야 함)
o 전형방법 : 재외공관 추천자와 국내대학 추천자 분리 심사
o 입학대학 사전 결정
- 재외공관 및 해외한국입양인 추천: 국립국제교육원이 지정한 61개 대학내에서 지원자가 희망하는 대
학 및 학과를 5지망까지 선택
- 국내대학 추천자 : 추천대학으로 입학
5. 초청기간
o 석사 (3년) : 2010.9.1 ~ 2013.8.31 (한국어연수 1년 + 학위과정 2년)
o 박사 (4년) : 2010.9.1 ~ 2014.8.31 (한국어연수 1년 + 학위과정 3년)
o 석·박사통합과정 (5년) : 2010.9.1 ~ 2015.8.31 (한국어연수 1년 + 학위과정 4년)
6. 한국어연수
o 1년간 한국어 연수 과정 후, 학위 과정 진학(TOPIK 3급 이상자)
o 연수기간 : 1년
* 1년 이내 TOPIK 3급 미만자는 추가연수 후 3급 이상 획득시 본과정 진학

 - 2회(각 6개월씩 최대 1년)의 추가연수 후에도 3급 미만시 장학생 자격상실
* 추가연수 기간은 본과정 수료 후 합리적인 사유로 논문 준비기간 연장이 필요할 경우라도 연장기간에
서 제외
o 연수기관
- 재외공관 및 해외입양인 추천 선발자 : 1~5지망 대학 중 입학허가를 받은 대학
- 국내대학 추천 선발자 : 장학생 추천대학
o 한국어 연수 면제 대상자 : TOPIK 5급 혹은 6급 인증 취득자
* 한국어 연수 면제자는 2010.9.1 및 2011.3.1 본과정 입학 가능
* 2011.3.1 입학희망자는 본인이 희망대학으로부터 입학허가서를 받아 본원에 제출하여야 함.
* 2011.3.1까지 입학을 하지 않으면 장학생 자격 상실됨
* 한국어연수 기간 중 TOPIK 5급 혹은 6급을 취득하고 해당 대학으로부터 입학을 허가 받을 경우 잔여
연수를 면제하고 2011년 3월에 조기 진학 가능
7. 지원 자격
o 지원자 및 부모가 모두 외국국적을 가진 외국인
※ 지원자가 한국국적을 가진 이중국적자는 지원불가
o 한국에서의 장기간 유학이 가능할 정도로 심신이 건강한 자
o 2010년 9월 1일 기준 만 40세 미만인 자 (1970년 9월 1일 이후 출생자)
o 2010년 9월 1일 기준 학사학위 또는 석사학위를 취득한 자 혹은 취득예정자
※ 석사과정(석·박사 통합과정) 지원자 : 학사학위를 취득한 자 또는 이와 동등 이상의 학력이 있다고 인정
되는 자
※ 박사과정 지원자 : 석사학위를 취득한 자 또는 이와 동등 이상의 학력이 있다고 인정되는 자
※ 한국내 대학원에서 희망과정과 동일한 학위과정에 재학 중인 자 또는 재학한 사실이 있는 자는 지원할
수 없음
* 졸업예정자는 9월 1일 입국시까지 반드시 학위증명서를 제출하여야 함
o 최종학교 전(全)학년 성적 평균 평점(GPA)이 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5점 만점 이상, 혹은 백점 만
점으로 환산할 경우 80% 이상인 자 또는 이와 동등이상의 성적이 있다고 인정되는 자
* 성적을 백분율로 환산하기 어려운 경우 대학으로부터 공식적인 설명 자료가 필요함

o 재외 한국공관 추천자
- 재외공관별 배정 인원의 1.5배수 내의 후보자를 선발하여 국립국제교육원에 추천
- 국립국제교육원은 지원자의 자격요건 심사
- 지원자의 진학희망대학에 입학 허가 여부 확인 (1~5지망 순으로 확인)
o 국내대학 추천자
- 초청대상국 중 15명 이내 추천(1국가 당 3명 이내)
- 국내대학 추천자는 별도 심사절차를 통해 선발
o 해외한국입양인
- 재외공관 및 국내입양인 단체 추천
- 국립국제교육원은 지원자의 자격요건 심사
- 지원자의 진학희망대학에 입학 허가 여부 확인 (1~5지망 순으로 확인)

10. 선발심사 요소 및 심사방법

o 지원자가 제출한 최종학교 성적, 자기소개서, 수학계획서, 추천서, 어학능력(한국어, 영어), 연구실적, 수
상실적 등을 종합적으로 평가하여 선발

o 지원자 유의사항
- 반드시 1개 추천기관을 통해서 지원하여야 함. 이중지원하는 경우, 선발대상에서 제외함
- 모든 서류는 원칙적으로 원본을 제출하여야 하며, 한국어나 영어로 작성되지 않은 서류는 한글 또는 영
문 공증 번역본을 첨부하여야 함
- 지원시 추천기관에 제출한 서류 및 기록물 일체는 반환하지 않음
- 제출서류의 기재내용이 부정확하거나 구비서류가 미비된 경우에는 최종 선발 과정에서 원천 배제 및 합
격한 후라도 장학생 자격을 취소함
- 사본으로 서류를 제출할 경우 재외공관의 원본 대조를 받아야 함
- 졸업예정자는 학위증명서(학사, 석사) 대신 졸업예정증명서(학위취득예정증명서) 제출
- 자가건강 체크리스트는 거짓없이 기재하여야 하며, 한국 입국후 실시하는 건강 검진에서 수학이 불가능
할 정도의 판정이 나올 경우 장학생 자격을 취소하고 귀국 조치함 (귀국항공료 본인 부담)
- 발표 논문실적은 논문 인쇄본 제출 (1~2부)
- 수상실적은 표창장 복사 (추천기관에 원본 확인)
- 국내대학에 재학중이거나 국내 대학을 졸업한 자는 해당대학의 학과장 추천서 1부 제출

* 석·박사통합과정은 한정된 대학에만 개설되어 있으니 지원자는 추천 대학이나 입학을 희망하는 대학에

covers all tuition over the initial 5 million won(KRW)/semester.
* Night schools, Seasonal schools, and schools through Internet are not allowed.
o Available course : Master’s Program, Doctoral Program and integrated Master’s & Doctoral
Program.
o Integrated Master’s & Doctoral Program
* Applicants are only eligible to apply for the Integrated Master’s & Doctoral
Program Scholarship if they apply for and are accepted into an Integrated &
Master’s and Doctoral Program from the start of the scholarship period.
Applicants who are applying for a Master’s Program and plan to apply for or
switch to an Integrated Master’s & Doctoral Program in the future are ineligible
for this scholarship.

* Very few schools offer Integrated & Doctoral Program. Applicants are
responsible for connecting the university/universities they wish to apply for to
find out whether or not such programs are offered.

* An applicant who applies for 5 year Integrated Master’s & Doctoral Program
especially can get scholarship for 4 years only.

4. Main Notes for 2010 Selection

o Organizations accepting applications: Korean Embassies (Consulates), adoption association,
and Domestic Universities in Korea
* Applicants may not be recommended by more than one organization. Every applicant
recommended by more than one organization will be disqualified automatically.
o Selection Procedure : Students recommended by a Korean Embassy (Consulate) or
domestic
university will be evaluated separately.
o Obtain Admission From the University Before Entry to Korea:
- Applicants recommended by a Korean Embassy (Consulate) or overseas Korean adoptees
must apply and gain admission into 1 of 5 universities out of the 61 designated
universities.

 - Applicants recommended by a university in Korea should enter the same university.
o Exemption of Korean language course: TOPIK level 5 or 6 certificate holder

6. Korean Language Course
o After 1 year of Korean language training, Master's or doctoral program will be followed.
o Duration : 1 year (Scholarship students who still don’t get a TOPIK level 3 or above
certificate after completing the language course should take an additional language course
and can enter only after getting TOPIK level 3 or above)
* After additional 2 semesters of Korean language courses (total 1 year period), students
who still don’t acquire the TOPIK 3 or above cannot enter the main program. (A student
who used the additional language training will have demerit when he/she asks for an
emergency extension with reasonable explanation. (For instance: Deduction of that period
from the possible extension.)
o Institution :
- Applicants recommended by a Korean Embassy (Consulate) and overseas Korean
adoptees will study at 1 of the 5 applied universities.
- Applicants recommended by the universities in Korea will study at the same university.
o Exemption of Korean language course: TOPIK level 5 or 6 certificate holder.
* Students who are exempted from the Korean language course may enter the graduate
school starting from September 1, 2010 or March 1, 2011.
* Those who wish to enter on March 1, 2011 should get admission by himself/herself from
the university and submit it to NIIED. (Otherwise, they will be disqualified.)
* A student exempted from Korean language course must enter the main program by Mar 1,
2011, otherwise he/she will be disqualified.
* A student who acquires TOPIK level 5 or 6 certificate during the Korean language course
can enter the main program on Mar 1, 2011 if he/she wants to.
7. Application Qualifications
o Both applicant and his/her parents must be citizens of the foreign country.
* Applicants cannot have Korean citizenship.
o Applicants should be in good health, both mentally and physically, to stay in Korea for a long
period of time.
o Should be under 40 years of age as of September 1, 2010

 o Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of September 1, 2010
* Applicants who are enrolling or have already enrolled in the same academic program in
Korea as the one they are applying for will not be admitted.
* For Master’s program (or Integrated Master’s & Doctoral program): students who hold a
Bachelor’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than Bachelor’s degree
* For Doctoral program: students who hold a Master’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent
to or higher than Master’s degree.
* Applicants who are expecting the adequate diploma should present their diploma by
September 1, 2010 before entry.
o Should have a grade point average (G.P.A.) at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4. 3 scale,
2.91 on a 4.5 scale or grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previous attended
institution
* If the grade is difficult to convert to percentage, official explanatory documents from the
attended university are required.
8. Scholarship Payment
o Scholarship Period : same as the period of invitation
o Payment
-Airfare : A round-trip economy class ticket
* Airfare for entry will not be provided to one who is staying in Korea on account of the
study (Korean language course, undergraduate or graduate school) or employment as of
the confirmation date of selection of scholarship students.
* Fees within domestic travel, as well as insurance while travelling to and from the Republic
of Korea, will not be provided.
-Monthly Allowance : 900,000 won(KRW) per month
-Research Allowance : 210,000 won for students in human and social sciences; 240,000
won for students in natural and mechanic sciences per semester
-Relocation (Settlement) Allowance : 200,000 won upon arrival
-Language Training Fee : The full costs up to 1 year
-Tuitions : All admission fees are waived by the host institution. The full tuition is paid by
NIIED.
-Dissertation Printing Costs : 500,000 ~ 800,000 won for the costs related to a printing
dissertation
-Medical Insurance : 15,000 won per month(limited insurance coverage) will be provided to
the university for students.
-Special fund for students proficient in Korean language (TOPIK level 5 or 6) : 100,000 won
per month(Commencing from the main program)

9. Selection Procedure
o "KGSP Guidelines for the Year 2010" including the application form will be on at the website
of NIIED, GKS.(www.gks.go.kr), the Korean Embassy (Consulate), and domestic universities.
o For applicants recommended by the Korean Embassy (Consulate)
- Korean Embassy (Consulate) may recommend 1.5 times their quota to NIIED
- Evaluation on the applicant’s eligibility by NIIED
- NIIED entrusts the applicants to the desired universities (in order of choice)
o For applicants recommended by domestic universities
-Each designated domestic university can recommend up to 15 candidates (3 per country)
-Special selection committee will evaluate the candidates.
-In regards to candidates, NIIED will refer to the Korean Embassy (Consulate) for eligibility
when needed.
o For overseas Korean adoptees
- Recommendation by Korean Embassy (Consulate) or Adoption Associations in Korea
- Evaluation on the applicant’s eligibility by NIIED
- NIIED entrusts the applicants to the desired universities (in order of choice)
- Special selection committee will make the final decision.
