On Thursday, March 11th, in Springfield, there was a closed-door meeting on red light cameras. The news
media wasn’t invited, nor allowed inside. It was a meeting in Senate President John Cullerton’s (D-6th-
Chicago) Capitol office. Who was allowed inside? Lobbyists from the red light camera industry! And Senator
John Millner (R-28th-Bloomingdale) took-part as well!
Senate President John Cullerton let the lobbyists approve or strike, line-by-line, each of the proposed reforms
and safety measures in the red light camera reform bill! The result is a “non-reform bill” that’s been written by
the red light camera lobbyists themselves!
Senate President John Cullerton and Senator John Millner both have cashed checks from the red light camera
industry’s lobbyists! Now they are colluding to give the red light camera lobbyists a “reform bill” that the
lobbyists got to write themselves!
Senator John Millner has been asked to return the thousands of dollars he’s received from the red light
camera industry’s lobbyists! But the Senator has refused! This doesn’t pass the smell-test! Senate President
John Cullerton took in $1,500.00 from the red light camera lobbyists in 2009, and has yet to return that
money!
