Today the herd feels sad...

Today the herd feels sad...

Her cold heart never rests from its selfish ways
never knows the true joy of shared days
she is only half way moving in with her boy friend, or her lover, or her husband, never fully unpacked. Her stuff always ready to go...
to go to the next destination or home... but always ready to go

I sat upon the edge of the cliff that was Us, weary, and with a heavy heart. mentally combing the debris, searching still... hopeful for signs of life a task that at its best seems like a hail Mary pass. Forlorn bereft of the notion that the pass will ever be intercepted. But like an insect tortured by a cruel child I struggle on seemingly oblivious to the reality that it is over and only seeking escape from the torment.

I am hurt
I need another human to recognize this
I seek kinship
I need to know that I am not alone

I do not ever wish to feel unique, one of a kind, unfathomable
I wish to feel what the herd feels
for then I know The herd feels like me
Today the herd feels sad...
