BIBLICAL NUTRITION 101
By Rev. George Malkmus
Lesson One
WHAT IS YOUR LIFE?
In the Bible, in the book of James, Chapter 4 and verse 14, we find a veryinteresting question being asked, and the question is this:
“What is your LIFE?”
Immediately, the Bible answers that question with these words:
"It is even avapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."
Of course, this verse is calling our attention to the brevity of LIFE! However, for afew minutes, I would like to call our attention to a particular word found in thisverse, and it is that word,
"LIFE!"
It is amazing how many times the word LIFE isfound in the Scriptures – some 300 times. The very first time we find the wordLIFE being used in the Bible is in Genesis 2:7, where we read,
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrilsthe breath of LIFE; and man became a LIVING soul."
Then in Deuteronomy 30:19 we find that word LIFE being used once again. HereGod says:
"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I haveset before you LIFE and death, blessing and cursing: therefore chooseLIFE, that both thou and thy seed may LIVE."
And then in John 10:10, Jesustells us
"I am come that they might have LIFE, and that they might have it more abundantly."
As we examine the subject of LIFE, we are going to learn some very interestingand exciting things! And we will even deal with some very controversial beliefs, held by some, pertaining to LIFE. First, let's consider the origin of LIFE. Butimmediately, we run into a problem, because we find that there are two distinctlydifferent teachings available to us today as to how and when LIFE began, andthose teachings are as different as night and day.
EVOLUTION
One segment of today's society wants us to believe that LIFE just happened byaccident, or chance, millions and millions of years ago, when some dead mineralmatter, which they cannot explain the origin of, was spinning around in theatmosphere, and collided, producing a "big bang." As a result of that "big bang,"millions of years later, a single cell creature containing LIFE, squiggled up ontothe shore, stretched itself, and proclaimed, "Someday, I am going to be a man."Millions of years later, this single cell finally evolved into a monkey, lost its tail,
