Our Antarctic expedition is ideally timed during the height of the austral summer and presentsan unparalleled opportunity to discover the multi-faceted treasures of the world’s southernmostrealm. Weather and ice conditions will determine our path and landings, just as they governedthe voyages of Antarctic explorers in the past. We take full advantage of our fleet of Zodiacs toreach remote shores and to cruise among stunning formations of grounded icebergs. The longdaylight hours mean we can affect several landings a day. And, as always with Zegrahm, you’lltravel in the company of veteran leaders and renowned lecturers, who provide insight into thenatural wonders and historic legacy along our route. From Ushuaia we set sail for the beautiful Falkland Islands and their extensive populationsof rockhopper, gentoo, and Magellanic penguins, as well as the regal black-browed albatross. We then cruise to South Georgia, made famous by explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. Duringour three days here we observe the largest concentration of wildlife anywhere in the world. Walk beaches covered with elephant and fur seals and watch penguins tending to their chicks. The rocky shores and pristine coves harbor thousands of king penguins, the second-largestand perhaps the most beautiful of all penguin species—a photographer’s dream. South Georgiais also home to gentoo, chinstrap, and macaroni penguins, and four types of albatross, includingthe majestic wandering albatross.During five days of expeditionary landings on the Antarctic Peninsula and its adjoining islands we explore remote areas not possible on shorter visits. Here towering icebergs of all shapes andsizes; Weddell, leopard, and crabeater seals; Adelie and chinstrap penguins; and a bewitchinglandscape that defies imagination—create impressions that will last a lifetime. For Antarctica history buffs, birders, photographers, and lovers of wilderness areas, this voyageshould be one of life’s mandatory travel experiences. We hope you will join us. Warmest regards,Peter Harrison & Shirley MetzZegrahm Cofounders

South Georgia
Flexibility in this area is a must. Many of ourleaders have been to South Georgia numeroustimes and, if the weather is in our favor, wemay want to make a landing before breakfastor even after dinner. We call at some of themany islands, bays, and coves where we can seeoutstanding birdlife and elephant and fur sealsclose at hand. The following is a list of places we plan to visit on South Georgia. Some of them are pending final government approval.
Elsehul Bay
This beautiful bay is hometo thousands of fur seals as well as macaronipenguins, the most numerous of all penguinspecies. Listen for the high-pitched trumpetingof king penguins amid the magnificent soundsof marine mammals that echo the bay.
