Spring 
Grants and giving supportprograms and scholarships
The YMCA is in its seventh year of of-fering quality programs and family eventsto Northern Michigan communities. Ourprograms include youth sports, wherekids learn teamwork and sportsmanship,martial arts where participants experi-ence discipline and self awareness, andour after school Y-Center program wherestaff instill caring, honesty, respect andresponsibility in everyday interactions. Inaddition to our programs, the Y also offersmany family events for the community,including a 3 on 3 basketball tournament,Halloween party, high school gather-ings, and the new addition of affordable,monthly family events, which will be heldat various local business in the community.The Y is the right choice for your kids andfamily.These programs and events would notbe possible without the support of areaagencies that have supported the YMCAof Northern Michigan and its missionto build strong kids, strong families, andstrong communities. In addition to of-fering quality programs and events, theYMCA also offers scholarships for all ofour offerings. This is an integral part ofour mission; to provide scholarships toyouth and families in need. Every pro-gram or membership, including day camp,has a scholarship option for those who arein financial troubles.We would like to recognize the follow-ing organizations for their support and be-lief in the YMCA of Northern Michigan.Since December 2009, we have received$6,000 from the Bay Harbor Foundationand $6,000 from the Petoskey-HarborSprings Area Community Foundation,both to support out of school program-ming. We also have dedicated the backpage to recognize our individual gifts fromour 2009 Strong Kids Campaign. TheseSKC funds go to help support our pro-gramming and scholarship fund. Thankyou to everyone who has donated fundsor volunteered time to the YMCA. Youare creating a stronger community foryour family by supporting the YMCA ofNorthern Michigan.

The YMCA of Northern Michigan inpartnership with Emmet County Parks andRecreation is offering a summer day camp forNorthern Michigan communities. The daycamp will be full of fun, educational, excitingprojects, field trips, and events that kids willenjoy.Camp Pet-O-Se-Ga offers nature trails,sandy beach, open fields, game areas, sportcourts, fire ring, and a clean indoor area forindoor activities with indoor restrooms.

Y-Winners programs are less competitive,value-based programs where all participants aregiven an equal opportunity to play. The focusis on learning basic skills and concepts of thesport. A typical session includes 30 minutes ofinstruction and team practice followed by 45minutes of game play with emphasis on havingfun! Players will receive t-shirts. At the end ofthe program, each participant will receive anaward to celebrate their accomplishments.
