Signs of Spring can be seen at every turn. Daylightsavings time has given us more hours of sunshine at theend of the day. Budding trees lining the roadways aretaking on a distinctive “reddish” hue. Perennials arebeginning to push through the sodden earth and morethan a few Robins have been sighted across the state. ForChristians the Season of Spring is surely a Season of Hopeand New Life. As we come to the end of our Lenten journey begun with the imposition of ashes on AshWednesday, we turn our focus to the preparations forobserving HOLY WEEK and the Great Feast of theResurrection. The Episcopal Church provides a rich liturgicalexperience during Holy Week.
(see Holy Week schedulein this issue.)
Beginning with Palm Sunday and ourcelebration of Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem,we are invited to walk with Jesus as he makes his way tothe Cross on Calvary. There on that Cross, was given forus the ultimate sacrifice by a loving God. Jesus died sothat we might have eternal life. And by his rising to newlife at the Resurrection, we are given the promise that hewill always be with us, even until the end of time. It issurely a Season of HOPE.Here in Guilford, there is an added measure of hopefulness as the Search Committee completes itsdiscernment process andconsideration of priest candidates tobecome the next Rector of ChristEpiscopal Church. For only the
thirdtime in over 56 years
, the parishwill be welcoming a
NEW RECTOR
tolead this wonderful community of faith. The members of the SearchCommittee have dedicated anenormous amount of time in thispursuit. They deserve the gratitudeand thanks of ALL. The FINAL List of priest candidates will be handed onto the Wardens and Vestry at aspecial celebration of the Holy Eucharist in the weeks
