The Prince of Wales’s Stakes is the feature race on the second day of the Royal Ascotmeeting. This Group One race was first run in 1862 to honour Prince Albert Edward, heirto the throne.The Prince of Wales’s Stakesis run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongsand is open to four year old and above thoroughbreds.
The Ascot Gold Cup
The Ascot Gold Cup is the feature race of Ladies’ Day at the Royal Ascot meeting, andthe most prestigious flat race outside of the Classics. TheAscot Gold Cupwas first run in1807, and is regarded as the third leg of the Stayer’s Triple Crown. The Ascot Gold Cup isrun over 2 miles 4 furlongs and is open to 4 year old and above thoroughbreds.
The Coronation Stakes
The Coronation Stakes is the feature race on the fourth day of the Royal Ascot meeting.The Coronation Stakes dates back to 1840 when the race was first run to celebrate thecoronation of Queen Victoria. Entry to theCoronation Stakesis restricted to 3 year oldthoroughbred fillies, and the race is run over a mile.
