August 6, 2009
(Austin, TX):
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data, employmentin the publishing industry has been shrinking since 2007. But this is not the case withAustin-based publisher and distributor Greenleaf Book Group. In 2006, with only 16employees, Greenleaf Book Group was named to the Inc 500 list and heralded as one of America’s fastest growing private companies. Since then, the company has doubled itsstaff with plans to grow by another 25% in 2009 to handle the massive uptick in demandthey’ve experienced.Clint Greenleaf, the Founder and CEO, knows why the company has experienced suchmeteoric growth over the past couple of years, “Our continued commitment to innovationcoupled with our team’s exceptional talents have enabled us to change this entireindustry, while giving our authors the kind of attention they and their works deserve.”To keep up with the growth and increase visibility to job candidates, Greenleaf recentlylaunched a new online career portalwww.workatgreenleaf.com. Four open positionshave already been posted to help facilitate their rapid growth through the recession. One posting, simply titled “More awesome people” invites assertive candidates to expressinterest in being included in Greenleaf’s “Virtual Bench,” a term the company uses todescribe exceptionally strong candidates who might be considered for hire regardless of any formal job opening.A recent posting for Publishing Assistant garnered interest from over 500 hopefulapplicants. “Given the workforce reductions amongst the traditional houses out of NewYork, I looked towards independent publisher Greenleaf Book Group,” said LaurenO’Neal, the recently hired candidate for this position. “Greenleaf operates within a fresh paradigm. As a result, I am confident I have joined one of the most exciting and cutting-edge groups in the publishing industry.”Greenleaf Book Group boasts award-winning designers and editors, a support team withunsurpassed industry acumen, and a CEO recognized by the
