General Dynamics Multi-Mission Combatant
Maximum Combat Power and Agility for the 21st Century
Distribution Statement A: Approved for Public Release; Distribution is unlimited. (Jan 4, 2007)

The General Dynamics Multi-Mission Combatant is a flexible, shallow-draft, high speed ship capable of conducting all simultaneous missions required by today’s global naval forces.
The General Dynamics Multi-Mission Combatant (GDMMC) has an innovative trimaran hull, providing outstanding stability, capacity and  sea keeping.
Compared to monohulls, trimarans are more stable platforms for marine and aviation operations up to sea state 5. This technology, already proven in high-speed transoceanic service, means the GDMMC can deliver:
Unparalleled combat effectiveness anywhere in the world, under the most demanding conditionsImproved seaway performance, extending crew endurance and efficiency Greatest range of combat operational availability, from blue water to the littorals

Open Architecture Mission System
The GDMMC’s entire mission systemis built on an open architecture com-puting environment —
a flexible infor-mation technology backbone that adheres to industry standards and maximizes the use of commercially available products and published interfaces. The technical architecture is not limited by proprietary systems — any current or future system applications that comply with open architecture tenets can be seamlessly integrated into the ship. This design makes it possible to take advantage of rapid advances in technology, deploy upgrades and adapt to new and more complex missions — faster and at lower costs.
Flexible and versatile:from enhanced warfightingto humanitarian relief
The GDMMC can be equipped to handle a wide range of operational missions as a stand-alone fighting vessel or as part of coordinated operations. The GDMMC’s
open architecture
computing environment provides a flexible and adaptable command and control infrastructure capable of hosting a wide array of available weapons, sensors, and combat system applications. The ship can perform various missions including detecting and avoiding mines, monitoring and interdicting maritime traffic, engaging air, surface and submarine threats, and supporting humanitarian relief efforts. The extensive GDMMC mission bay can be rapidly tailored to accommodate changing mission needs.
Superior aviation operation capability
With a flight deck that is nearly three times the size of any other surface combatant, the GDMMC can operate two H-60 size helicopters simultaneously, operate multiple UAVs, and recover, service and launch helicopters of H-53 size. The flight deck is 11 meters (36 ft) above the water line, minimizing sea spray during operations and maintenance, and improving launch and recovery safety. The helicopter hangar can accommodate two H-60 size aircraft. An internal platform elevator allows TEU-sized packages to be air-transported to the ship, enabling the ship to change missions while under way. The GDMMC is also ideal for special operations, allowing safe stern or side launch of watercraft, and recovery of watercraft up to sea state 4. Its large main deck and starboard side roll-on/roll-off ramp are capable of handling a wide range of ground vehicles.
