MICHIGAN STREET 2-WAY CONVERSION & WEST STREET IMPROVEMENT
RebuildIndy is Mayor Greg Ballards initiative to restore deteriorating thoroughfares, residential streets, sidewalks and bridges as well as to address neighborhood drainage and flooding issues. This investment continues to transform neighborhoods throughout Indianapolis. These projects create local jobs and increase public safety for neighborhoods and residents, which supports Mayor Ballards commitment to make Indianapolis a more livable city.

The Indianapolis Department of Public Works will convert
the existing one-way Michigan Street through IUPUIs campus to a two-way street, from West Street to White River Parkway. The work mirrors a similar project on New York Street to calm traffic and increase pedestrian safety throughout the campus. The project will include a twoway, mostly off-street bicycle lane and improvements to the Michigan Street/West Street intersection.
