Introduction
With PeopleSoft Financials release 9.0, Oracle attempted to introduce some of the keyfeatures of Oracle Fusion Middleware and some functional enhancements. This document liststhe generic and functional enhancements in release 9.0 briefly.
Next Generation Technology:
This theme is about leveraging Oracle’s Fusion Middleware in the PeopleSoft Enterprise releasenow. In release 9, the Fusion Middleware components that will be integrated into manysolutions include:
 
Enhanced web services functionality.
In release 9, a great deal of focus was placed onexpanding web services to support business processes, such as procure to pay. By using webservices capabilities, the application can convert an execution/activity into a service thatcan be sent to other applications—including SAP, EBS, JDE, legacy, and so on—and theinformation/action that is represented by this service is consumed and acted upon by theother application. This enables integration between heterogeneous applications,streamlining business processes across IT environments, accelerating and improving the userexperience.
 
Oracle’s BPEL Process Manager.
BPEL, or Business Process Execution Language, is astandard language introduced by Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, and SAP to define compositeapplications or process-centric applications. It is an umbrella for standards and technologythat can be used to reduce the cost and complexity of developing, deploying, andmanaging web services across diverse applications. These services can be created by anapplication and could be used by other applications. These services can be consumed in alogical sequence or in parallel. BPEL Process Manager also provides portals/interfaces oneach of the applications to receive or send the services. These portals/interfaces also workwith web user interfaces to facilitate an action using a service and an external website.Using this solution, you can develop business processes that are portable across productsfrom different vendors. This portability eliminates the lock-in that customers faced whenthey used EAI or Business Process Management solutions from pure-play solution providers.
 
Business Activity Monitoring.
Primarily in our CRM applications, we are now leveragingBusiness Activity Monitoring to create CRM-related dashboards that help you monitor andmanage your operations with real-time information. Several dashboards are predeliveredwith the CRM applications, including a Sales Dashboard, Order Capture Dashboard, andService Dashboard. Metrics and analytics are delivered right to the user’s screen, and thatuser can take action directly from that interface. He or she doesn’t need to go back to thecore application.
 
Oracle’s Customer Data Hub.
In release 9, PeopleSoft Enterprise solutions will be leveragingthe Customer Data Hub to create a master file of customer records. With the hub, you can
