Show an understanding and awareness of the work of Chuck Close.
Develop skills in enlarging a composition using a grid. Study proportion.
Recognize values and create values using line, pattern and simulated textures.
Develop Contrast through values.
Assorted 15cm x 20cm (6in x 8in) photographs showing high contrast
30cm x 46cm (12in x 18in) white drawing paper
Pencils, rulers, erasers, scissors
White, range of grey, black paper
Sharpie Ultra Fine markers
Sharpie fine point markers
WHAT TO DO:
Using a digital camera, take a picture of yourself
Bring the picture into Photoshop, size it to 15cm x 20cm (6in x 8in)
Increase the contrasts, select Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast
Create a mosaic of your image, select Filters > Textures > Patchwork
Print your image; bring several different images to choose from
Draw a grid on your white paper; each square should be 2.5cm (1 in)
Draw a grid on your photo (roughly 1.3 cm or 0.5 in)
Cut out many 2.5 cm (1 in) squares out of white, range of grey, black paper
