same as my reaction with cool expert Kafka is one of the best. The Metamorphosis for example. Joyce is an art for art's sake though his stream of consciousness is one of the hardest to understand and to comprehend. But, his technique is moving and marks the difference among writers

Good list, but not beyond criticism. Would like to see James Joyce for example. Or, Kafka. I mean, surely "The Trial" is a class in itself and ought to rank miles over and beyond say "Gone With The Wind"? In fact I like WebLiterature's library - it has a real good list. Let me try to link to it, since I personally enjoy this a lot: http://www.web literature.net http://www.web literature.net/literature

A good list. it has too much of some and not enough of others. mostly for light reading (no joyce, no v. woolf,) not enough of the french and too much of the black and the americans, dostoyevsky? yes, but not crime and punishment. instead the idiot, or karamazov. or ont he medium sized novels..on going back, definitely too much black theme literature. of human bondage aint what it used to be.1984 not that relevant anyhmore. Jane eyre? no, find something else.
