Foster disciple making, provide leadership for local church programs, overseebusiness activities, and provide pastoral care to members (in church assigned to MissionalPastor).
Georgia-Cumberland Conference Missional Pastor (MP) Supervisor,MP Director, Vice-President for Pastoral Ministries & Discipleship, and the ConferenceExecutive Committee.
Term of Appointment:
A Missional Pastor is appointed for one year. Annual recertificationwill be contingent upon attending Missional Pastor training twice each year, annual reviewoutlined in the Missional Pastor Guide, and the input of the assigned church.
To provide or arrange for the full pastoral care of the assigned congregation asindicated in the responsibilities below. (Once assigned, MP is placed as an ordained elder in the church they serve and will be approved to perform Baptisms with permission fromsupervisor as well as officiating at communion services. However, things such asordaining local leaders, and performing marriage ceremonies are not approved).
(Note: these responsibilities may be tailored to the individual MissionalPastor and church needs, by agreement of the Missional Pastor, the assigned church, andthe Missional Pastor Director.)
Follow a regular personal Bible reading and study program to foster personal spiritualgrowth and effective sermon preparation.
Develop of servant leadership style that builds confidence and cooperation from localleaders and members. (NOTE: You can be appointed to a leadership position and stillnot be a leader people will follow. It is important that you earn the right to lead.)
Develop a plan that facilitates discipleship so that together with other leaders/members you conduct regular parishioner home and hospital visitation.
Facilitate “Making Disciples Through Shared Leadership” (GCC evangelismparadigm) so as a church you are carrying out a process of evangelism that includes:
As a church work to connect with people in your geographic area that do notknow God. Work together to understand their culture and develop connectinglinks in order to love and serve them.
When individuals become interested help leaders/members regularly visitand give spiritual guidance to help learn more about the Adventist Message. For those who desire church membership, provide final approval for baptism.
Foster stewardship and team ministry based on people’s spiritual gifts soeach member can live an abundant life and participate in the mission of thechurch.
