. Your support will help build schools andlibraries, fund local language books and scholarships for girls. Our goal is to fund the construction of at least one newprimary school in Sri Lanka, which will cost HK$257,400 per school. Please support us!
Room to Read Projects for Adoption
US$33,000 (HK$257,400) funds the construction of a new
in Sri Lanka.
Each school has 4 rooms andprovides a new or improved learning environment for the students. School Room sponsors will receive an Application Reportwhich describes the community in need, reasons for support, and details of the challenge grant; a Progress Update with photosof the school being built; and a Completion Report with a summary and photos of the completed school, including a photo of thededication plaque that adorns the building.
US$20,000 (HK$156,000) funds the construction of a new
in Sri Lanka
providing a new and safe learningenvironment for up to 60 children. Sponsors of this project will receive an Application Report which describes the community inneed, reasons for support, and details of the challenge grant; a Progress Update with photos of the school being built; and aCompletion Report with a summary and photos of the completed school, including a photo of the dedication plaque that adornsthe building.
US$15,000 (HK$117,000) funds the publication of an original local language children's book
written and illustrated bylocal authors and artists in
Sri Lanka. Each title is printed Sri Lanka, supporting the local publishing industry and creating jobs forlocal authors and illustrators, and then distributed throughout our schools and libraries. Sponsors of our Local LanguagePublishing program will have the opportunity to choose the dedication language that will appear on the inside cover of the book.You will receive copies of the book once it is published
Dream big with Room to Read and help us get even closer to our goal of establishing 11,000libraries by the end of 2010! Support the
establishment of three libraries
in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, SriLanka or Vietnam and you will have the opportunity to dedicate one of the libraries with a plaque that includes the language ofyour choosing. You will also receive a Completion Report for this library and a personalized certificate of recognition of yourgenerous support of the program.
US$4,000 (HK$31,200) funds one of the thousands of libraries
in Asia which we are establishing in existing schools. Eachof these libraries serves hundreds of students annually and includes as many as 300 to1000 local language and Englishlanguage books. Your sponsorship funds the creation of a child-friendly learning environment that includes: books, furniture,games, puzzles, posters, librarian training, and three years of support from Room to Read. You will receive semi-annual reportson our Reading Room and Local Language Publishing programs detailing the progress we are making across all of ourgeographies as we scale to 11,000 libraries.
10 years of Girls’ Education
in India, Laos, Nepal, Sri Lanka or Vietnam. Room to Readmakes a long-term commitment to each girl on scholarship: as long as she attends classes and receives passing grades, we willcontinue to fund her education through the completion of secondary school. Currently, the majority of our scholarship studentsrange in age from five to ten years. These scholarships make it possible for children who would not otherwise have access to aneducation, to attend school through the secondary level.
