The obvious difference is that on JURIS these materials arestored electronically in computer files instead of in printed volumes. The documents in the data base are also organized in much the same wayas their counterparts in the law library. The documents are dividedinto different collections or groups. Each group, in turn, is organizedinto a number of different files. For example, the files in the CASELAWgroup include the federal reporters volume for volume; the statutoryfiles contain the U.S. Code, Public Laws, and Executive Orders; and thedigest files contain the West Publishing Company's Digests as theyappear in the printed volumes. The data base is frequently updated andexpanded to meet the needs of the federal legal community. The generallegal data base currently includes the full text of over 225,000 federalcases, including headnotes, as well as headnotes from over 475,000 statecourt cases. The data base also contains a large number of statutory, regulatory, and administrative files.
