Saturday, April 24, 2010,
several environmental friendlyorganizations will gather outside of Margo Studios on 1354 Margo St, in downtown Los Angeles, CA to hostEARTH DAY XL, a music and art celebration commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. Theevent kicks-off at 12:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. It is free and open to the public.In 1970, Gaylord Nelson had a vision to come up with an idea to prove to other U.S. political figures thatthere would be widespread public support for a political agenda based primarily on environmental issues.What then transpired was the passage of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act andseveral laws to protect wilderness areas. The EVP (Environmental Protection Agency), was created withinthree years after Nelson’s April 22, 1970 Earth Day celebration.“This is a celebration of earth, a celebration of life. Today, Broccoli City carries on that tradition byteaching the fundamentals of green awareness, healthy living and sustainability to urban communities acrossthe world,” said Brandon McEachern, founder of Broccoli City.Nearly 1,000 attendees are expected for this event. Broccoli City partners with The Hip Hop Caucus, GreenThe Block, Green For All and LA Green Block Party to highlight and promote this year’s Earth Day.Network initiatives including the following:
