Do you sometimes feel…?? Overwhelmed Worn-down Irritable Tired Unappreciated Stressed out Can you relate to this? Perhaps you’re having your Evaluation Or your in a Business Process Review meeting Or your Position Reclassification meeting… Change…
If you could change something, what
would it be? Would something like this in the office help? Take time for yourself… To access our natural joy and maintain balance in our lives, we need to energize our bodies through proper rest, breathing, exercise and laughter. Exercise Research overwhelmingly shows that people who exercise are happier. Other “side effects” include: Increases oxygen to your brain Reduces depression Helps relieve and prevent anxiety Breathe In the past thirty years, hundreds of studies have been conducted showing how breathing techniques can relieve anxiety, depression, and chronic fatigue and increase mental clarity. Sleep There’s a strong correlation between the amount of restful sleep a person gets and his or her level of happiness. Lack of sleep can cause irritability, confusion, impatience, memory lapses, dizziness, blurred vision, headache, decreased mental activity and concentration, etc… Laughter Laughter is contagious and connects us to others. By elevating the mood of those around you, you can help reduce your stress levels and those around you. Take time out of your hectic, busy day to laugh and have some fun. Here’s an example of how to do that in an office. Appreciation According to the US Bureau of Labor, 40% of employees leave their job not because of salary or workload, but because they don’t feel appreciated. When someone is acknowledged, dopamine is released – a neurochemical that’s directly linked to being happy! Group Exercise Break into groups of 2 (or 3 if needed). Begin by acknowledging something you appreciate about the other person. Go back and forth at least 5 times. Now repeat this exercise, only this time acknowledge one thing you appreciate about yourself. Go back and forth at least 5 times. Bottom line… You are appreciated in CPAAC! You better take care of yourself!
