Vol. 1
17th April 2010, Saturday
The hall was filled with the buzz of chatter and laughter from students near and afar,it’s finally here, Kursk Games 2010! You could practically smell the excitement in theair. At 8.00 am on the 16
th
of April 2010, a simple but excellent ceremony was held atthe Pharmcorpus auditorium of Kursk State Medical University to officiate the start of our prestigious intervarsity games.
The ceremony opened with an eye
-
catching opening dance featuring the best beauties of Kursk, making the lads go ga-ga over them! It was followed by recita-tion of prayers and the singing of the Ma-laysian and Russian national anthems.
Next, the rector of KSMU, Prof.V.A.Lazarenko and after him the Malaysi-an ambassador to the Russian Federation,Dato’ Mohamad Khalis took to the stageto present their speeches. This was followed by the officiation of the games by theviewing of the Kursk Games 2010 Official Trailer. The trailer had the crowd watchingin awe.
Next the project manager of the games, Ahmad Nizam Mad Nasir and Kursk Malaysi-an Medical Students Association president Jeyendran Kanagarajah gave their speech-es. This was followed by a choir ensemble which serenaded the crowd with this yearstheme song, the catchy “Ke Puncak Jaya”.
Last but not least, the crowd was left excited and maybe much more motivated whenthey were entertained by Kursk’s very own band of cheerleaders. Their enthusiasmwasn’t only a boost to the Kursk contingent, but to everyone I daresay!
The ceremony ended with the parade of the respective university flags and oath
-
taking by the athletes.
