Atapuerca – Salas de los Infantes (66.5 km)
After yesterday’straffic: nature and peace! We head deeper into Castile using another Vía Verde, and one whichgives you a gentle way of heading inland and up into the Sierra de la Demanda.Although this Vía Verde has anumber of rest stops with picnic tables and benches, these stops are not equipped with fountains – stock up onfood and water in Arlanzón. There are also restaurants in Pineda de la Sierra (most closed on Mondays.)

0.0From the Atapuerca Interpretation Centre, turn RIGHT (south) and follow the BU-V-7012 to AGES.
2.5Continue on the BU-V-7012 through AGÉS.
4.6Follow bend in road through SANTOVENIA DE OCA
5.4Cross N120 highway at truck stop. Road becomes the BU-V-8133. If you stop at the truck stop forbreakfast or food, be careful of glass in parking lot and on the side of the road
9.1In Arlanzón, BU-V-8133 becomes c/Benito del Castillo; if you need to get food or coffee, turnLEFT onto c/ Samuel Morse (also marked as BU-P-8101) to reach centre of town. If you want toproceed directly to the Vía Verde, turn RIGHT and ride 200 metres to the park
9.3Upon reaching the sports park (kiddie park and handball court), turn LEFT onto Via Verde de laSierra de la Demanda.
10.2Vía Verde goes around a water treatment plant
15.9Vía Verde crosses local highway to URREZ.
19.00Vía Verde goes over first collapsed tunnel.
32.75When VV gets to PINEDA DE LA SIERRA, follow marked road into town and follow BU-820.
34.4Turn RIGHT onto BU-V-8201, over bridge to get back on Vía Verde (look for the mining cart)
39.4Turn left to get onto BU-820 to avoid collapsed

40.0At Puerto del Manquillo, stay on highway to get down to Riocavado de la Sierra.
46.5RIOCAVADO DE LA SIERRA. Continue straight through town to BU825.
