Dear Mr. Thompson:

I am writing to you regarding the school lunch. I am really concerned about the quality of food
we are eating at lunch; the food is very unhealthy.

One of the lunches that I am concerned with is the Hot Pockets and the Giant Goldfish
Grahams. I am concerned for these particular lunches because they are high in cholesterol,
sodium and saturated fats. They contain more harmful ingredients than healthy ones. It is a
really unhealthy lunch. The lunches that we eat have been outsourced meals and reheated
before being served to students, and because of that we are not getting the nutritional content
of those meals.

What I would suggest for lunches are fresh sandwiches, fruits and vegetables; a really healthy
lunch. Instead of the Giant Goldfish Grahams that contains so many bad ingredients, they could
be replaced with yogurt, string cheese, 100% fruit juice etc. Give us a lunch that is not so
processed. It is your responsibility to take care of the children. As Antoinette Bruno and Amy
Tarr said in their article, “The Childhood Obesity Epidemic in America, “As adults, we are
responsible for the food choices we make for ourselves, but our children, the most vulnerable
members of our society cannot choose. And so it is our duty to make healthy food choices for
them.” I hope that you are one of the adults who makes the right choice.

Thank you in advance for any consideration to my letter.

Sincerely,

Cruz Gutierrez
