Zechariah Scenario in Chapter 13 fulfilled in history... only Chap. 14 remains. (the method interpretation: the hermeneutic rule of scriptural adjacency) and, Day-year "language" of prophecy...

The use of prophetic day=year language is certainly nothing new. Indeed the interpretations in the church today are what are new, especially those from within the last hundred to few hundred years or so futurism/preterism). As mentioned earlier, Scripture instructs us: Job 8:8 For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers: 9 (For we [are but of] yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth [are] a shadow:), http://www.israelinbibleprophecy.com/daniels_math.htm

Zechariah 13
pertains to Messiah's first coming as our Good Shepherd wholaid down His life for His sheep in 30 AD, and I think verses 8-9 werefulfilled in 70 AD.
Zechariah 13:7b-9
“. . . smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall bescattered: and I will turn my hand on the little ones. 8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, said the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. 9 And I will bring the third partthrough the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them asgold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, Itis my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.”Josephus was a historian and eye-witness to the siege of Jerusalem. BecauseTitus laid siege at the feast of unleavened bread (to which it was mandatorythat adult males attend) there were close to three million people trappedinside Jerusalem.Based upon the number of sacrifices recorded, there were “. . . two millionsseven hundred thousand and two hundred persons that were pure and holy;for as to those that have the leprosy, or the gonorrhea, or women that havetheir monthly courses, or such as are otherwise polluted, it is not lawful for them to be partakers of this sacrifice; nor indeed for any foreigners neither, who come hither to worship.” (
The War of the Jews, book IV, chapter 9.3
)Because the city was not built for sewage and water for 3 million, roughlyone million people died of plagues before the troops of Titus breached thewalls and climbed over piles of dead bodies to slay those yet armed withstrength to fight. Josephus estimated 1,100,000 died and 97,000 were takeninto slavery with some being sent to work mines in Egypt. To me that's two-thirds dead and one-third taken captive. Josephus concluded, “the multitudeof those that therein perished exceeded all the destructions that either men or God ever brought upon the world.” (
The War of the Jews, book IV, chapter 9.3
)God had “finish[ed] the transgression”.

Thieleman van Braght
, wrote the following in MartyrsMirror, pages 21-24: '
a thousand two hundred and threescore days, whichreckoned according to prophetic language means as many years
… let it bereckoned as it may, say we, as a very long period of time.'

Two hundred years later,
 Matthew Henry
, in his 'Commentary of the WholeBible', came to the same conclusion (Vol VI, page 1157 column 1, para.2): "….if the beginning of that interval could be ascertained,
thisnumber of prophetic days, taking a day for a year
, would give us aprospect of when the end might be."
Isaac Newton
- "She is nourished by the merchants of the earth, threetimes or years and an half, or 42 months, or 1260 days:
and in theseProphecies days are put for years.
" -

Observations Upon the Propheciesof Daniel, and the Apocalypse of St. John - Chapter 3Also
Jamison, Faucett & Brown
commentary - "..... in the wilderness 'athousand two hundred and threescore days.'
In the wider sense, we mayeither adopt the year-day theory of 1260 years
..."
Ezekiel 4:5
For I have laid upon thee
the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days
, three hundred and ninety days: soshalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.Ezekiel 4:6And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thyright side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judahforty days:
I have appointed thee each day for a year. Numbers 14:34
After the number of the days in which ye searched theland, [even] forty days,
each day for a year,
shall ye bear youriniquities, [even] forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.Genesis 29:27
Fulfill her week
, and we will give thee this also for theservice which thou shalt serve with me yet
seven other years
.Additionally Exodus alludes to a week of days as years:
Exodus 23:10
And
six years thou shalt sow thy land
, and shalt gatherin the fruits thereof:
Exodus 23:11
But
the seventh [year] thou shalt let it rest
and liestill; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave thebeasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thyvineyard, [and] with thy oliveyard. Desolation of JerusalemIn "A History of the Jews", Paul Johnson wrote on page 321: "Between1827 and 1839, largely through British efforts, the population ofJerusalem rose from 550 to 5,500 and in all Palestine it topped 10,000- the real beginning of the Jewish return to the Promised Land. In 1838Palmerston appointed the first western vice-consul in Jerusalem, W.T.Young, and told him 'to afford protection to the Jews generally'."In 1867Mark Twain described itas: ...[a] desolate country whosesoil is rich enough, but is given over wholly to weeds-a silentmournful expanse....A desolation is here that not even imagination cangrace with the pomp of life and action....We never saw a human being onthe whole route....There was hardly a tree or a shrub anywhere. Eventhe olive and the cactus, those fast friends of the worthless soil, hadalmost deserted the country.”
