The Alpha Invitation 2010is a nation-wide call to simplyinvite our friends and lovedones to a meal this July.

What is it?

The meal could be a “yum cha” breakfast, buffet lunch, hightea, barbecue dinner or supper. The idea is to have a relaxed,non-threatening event to which people can feel comfortablebringing their friends, family, neighbours and colleagues. Asthey tuck into delicious food amid a friendly atmosphere,the guests will hear about the Alpha course and have theopportunity to sign up for the 10-week course.

Why Alpha?

• Alpha’s relational, “come and see” approach works wellaround the world in different cultures and contexts.• More than 14 million people in 163 countries have attendedAlpha, and over 180 churches in Singapore have run anAlpha Course.• Do-able for churches and groups of every size and denomination.• It’s simple! Everyone in your congregation can play a part –from preparing the meal to inviting a friend or facilitatinga group.• Raise the evangelistic temperature of your congregation,reach new people and, in the process, identify emergingleaders for your church.

Why and How?

• Your church will gain a sense ofsynergy and momentum from beingpart of a national effort.• Alpha Singapore will help createawareness through a publicitycampaign. Greater awarenessmakes it easier to invite someoneto Alpha and for them to accept aninvitation.• Team training will be provided.• Alpha advisers will be available tosupport your efforts.• Alpha Singapore will helpco-ordinate prayer amongstparticipating churches before andthroughout campaign.

When?

We recommend having yourintroductory meal on 29, 30 or 31 July.

Where?

Anywhere and everywhere! In churches,workplaces, homes, cafes, campuses,buses... the possibilities are endless.

What are my options?

• Help or run an Alpha course (in yourchurch, workplaces, homes, etc)• Partner with another church to jointly run a course• Be an Inviter – bring guests to anAlpha course (contact us to ﬁnd outwhere the courses are)• Pray – join the Alpha prayernetwork• Give Financially – the more you give,the more publicity can be done.

Beneath the glossy exterior of ourcity state are increasing humanneeds and a deepening spiritualhunger. Singapore is now home tomany nationalities. Our population isgreying and globalisation is placingincreasing stress on families. It isurgent that we bring the unchangingmessage of Hope in Jesus to as manyas possible on our soil.We believe God is calling us to stepout together to make His love knownto this city.The Alpha Invitation 2010 offersa unique common platform forchurches to join hands to giveeveryone an opportunity to hearthe good news of Jesus Christ(Matthew 9:10).Our sincere hope is that churchesand groups of every size anddenomination will “Invite theNation” to a meal on 29th, 30th or31st July 2010.
