A well constructed piece. What I particularly found most effective is the ambiguous nature. We are seeing Frank at a turning point and what comes next is going to be joyous or insanely depressing.
I liked how you took something so common and put all those mythic elements in it. Very enjoyable and (from my perspective) a story I am all too familiar with!
I recently googled for "the whale costales" and found a half dozen other sites that have embedded this story from scribd. The only thing I am not certain of is if viewing the embedded stories will count as reads.
