o Columnist, writing various articles about the Sea Dragon house (ECHS implements a house system similar to the
system established in British public schools) and technology
 Global Awareness Project: 1+ hour per week (grade 10)
o Students worked with students from North Lindsey College in Great Britain to compete against other teams, design
and build websites informing the public about global warming. Participant; Runner-up, second place.
 Yearbook: 3+ hours per week (grades 9 and 12)
o Editing and designing, for grade 12, created cover design for 12th grade yearbook
 Student Council: 1-4 hours per week, President (grade 12)
o Planning and setting up school activities, coordinating with other clubs, teachers, and the PTA.

o My team had a focus on the Wind Energy Challenge in particular, which involved building a working windmill.
Outside of School
 Corona del Mar Middle School 8th Grade Pentathlon Team: 2+ hours per week, 10 weeks
o Tutor for English subject, subbed for Chemistry tutor; the team performed excellent, earning medals across the board
including several 1st place and 2nd place medals.
 American Cancer Society Discovery Shop: 20 hours total (11)
o Assisted volunteers around the shop, racking clothing, cleaning, and doing other general maintenance tasks.
Work Experience
 Five Star Flags (Sale and production of US, state, custom, and other flags): 30+ hours per week (9-11)
o Packing, shipping, production, and management during the summer
Summer Experiences
 Johns Hopkins University at California State University, Fullerton: Engineering Innovation (10)
o Johns Hopkins University- Introduction to Engineering course compressed to one month for high school students to
take over the summer. In the class, we learned basic elements of civil, electrical. The class cumulated in constructing a
spaghetti bridge with the skills we had learned. Awarded an “A” grade.
