Airbags
The back seat is the saf-est place for a child toride. It is estimated thatchildren ages 12 and un-der are 36% less likely todie in a crash if they rideseated in the rear seat of a passenger vehicle.

Children ages 12 andunder should ride buck-led up in a back seat.

Never put an infant infront of an air bag. Theback of a rear-facing in-fant or convertible seatrests too close to the airbag. Due to the consider-able force with which anair bag deploys (up to200 mph), the impactwith the air bag cancause serious or fatal in- juries to the infant. For air bags to work ef-fectively, everyone needsto be properly secured bya safety belt.
