Statesboro, Ga- The CASA Program for Judicial Circuit of Statesboro has just been awardedcertification by the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association. Thiscertification recognizes that the CASA Program for Judicial Circuit is in compliance with NationalCASAs high standards for quality child advocacy.According to Michael Piraino, CEO of the National CASA Association, The National CASA qualityassurance process is very rigorous, and reflects our commitment to ensure every child we serve hasthe most powerful volunteer advocate working on their behalf. This certification says The CASAProgram for Judicial Circuit of Statesboro has demonstrated to us a strong capacity to provideexcellent services to the abused and neglected children within our community.The CASA Program for Judicial Circuit began in 1982 and in 1992, Georgia CASA established its non-profit organization independent status. Since then, over 900 CASA programs exist with more than68,000 CASA volunteers. Ninety children are victims of abuse and neglect everyday, which is why70% more children need a CASA volunteer in Georgia. At least 4 children die every day from abuseand neglect costing the economy on estimate $104 billion each year.Dr. Phil and his wife were named the CASA spokesperson and launched their Forgotten Childrencampaign in May 2008.
