RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO PASSAGE OF ANY

LEGISLATION THAT WOULD APPROVE A CAP & TRADE
ENERGY BILL OR TAX ON CARBON EMISSIONS AND
OPPOSITION TO ANY LEGISLATION THAT WOULD PROVIDE
AMNESTY TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

WHEREAS, the Berkeley County Republican Party Executive Committee voted and

strongly opposes any bill, bipartisan or not, that deals with “climate change” via “Cap & Trade”

energy bill or a tax on any carbon emissions; and

WHEREAS, the basis of Cap and Trade – global warning caused by carbon emissions –

is still in doubt as evidenced by the past decade of cooling temperatures; and

WHEREAS, the people of Berkeley County and the State of South Carolina can ill

afford the job-killing Cap & Trade bill’s ripple effects on our state’s economy and on personal

energy bills; and

WHEREAS, the Berkeley County Republican Party Executive Committee strongly

opposes any bill that would further threaten our borders through any proposal of amnesty for

illegal immigrants which could lead to immediate U. S. Citizenship and government funded

healthcare for such illegal immigrants.

THEREFORE, let it be resolved that the Berkeley County Republican Party Executive

Committee opposes any legislation that would approve Cap and Trade in any form, any tax on

carbon emissions, amnesty for illegal immigrants and/or government funded healthcare for such

illegal immigrants.

ADOPTED, by the Berkeley County Republican Executive Committee, in a meeting

duly assembled this 15th day of February 2010.
