shelters and the second set ofstickers promoted Pro-Choice. I love irony. Mymind processed the messageas “be nice to animals, support abortionofhumanlife”. It reminded me ofa vegancouple I knew back inthelate 70’s who were against the killingofanimals for food but had anabortionbecause theywere’nt readytobe parents.I don’t relate to that wayofthinking. Seems selfishto me.We didn’t adopt our son17 years ago to make a statement or send a message. We wanted to be parents andwere led to adopt a child withspecialneeds. It has onlybeeninthe years since that I have come to learnthat90% ofparents receivinga pre-nataldiagnosis ofDownsyndrome elect to abort their child.Right now I’msittingwithmysonwatchingthe Eagles playlose the NFC Championship game. He cheers, heboos, he storms out ofthe room. It’s a guything. Earlier todayhe was at the arcade for about 90 minutes, went to the movies and saw, Bedtime Stories, and thenwent to out to lunch. Yesterdaywas anequallyfullday. He lives a fulllife, doesn’t suffer and neither do we. Our lives have beentransformed bybeinghisparents.I amconvinced that more people would choose to continue their pregnancies iftheybetter appreciated whatit meant to raise a child withDownsyndrome. There are postive perspectives that youwon’t always find fromthe medicalcommunity. Talk to other parents, contact localsupport groups, emailme! We have another website that’s fullofresources for people searchingfor info athttp

Read the storyat the HuffingtonRiposte first and thencomeback and click the link to the Snopes story.Ina supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busilyworkingwhena new voice came over theloud speaker askingfor a carryout at register 4. Kurtis was almost finished, and wanted to getsome freshair, and decided to answer the call.As he approached the check-out stand a distant smile caught his eye, the new check-out girlwas beautiful, he recognized her as someone he had met incollege and he fellinlove….read thefullarticleRead the clarified storyatSnopes.comPosted inGeneralJanuary28th, 2009 byBlogFor DownSyndrome |No comments
