What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient healing art. It is an ancient form of spiritually guided life forceenergy which is channeled by You and received by your pet as a gentle, loving heal-ing energy. The word Reiki means"Universal Life Force Energy".

Reiki is spiritual practice that supports life, originated by Mikao Usui at the turn of the century. It hasits roots in ancient Buddhism and Usui, during his search for a personal answer to his questionsaround the meaning and purpose of his life, was constrained to learn Sanskrit to help him to access
this wisdom.
We now know a great deal more about story of Usui's life and his discovery of Reiki. Informationemerging from Japan this year has clarified and simplified the story. Usui was a well
-educated and
widely traveled man who spent some years in a Buddhist monastery. While there he undertook the 21
-
day fast on Mount Kurayama. On the morning of the 21st day he reached a moment of Sartori(enlightenment) when all he had learned and experienced until then fell into place and became the
Reiki system.
He taught thousands of people how to do Reiki but appears only to have taught three to Shinpiden(Master) level, one of which was Chujiro Hayashi, who taught Mrs. Hawayo Takata. She brought Reiki tothe West, packaging it in a way that the people she was dealing with could understand. She droppedthe Japanese names for many of the meditations and techniques but fully passed on what she
learned, developing the teaching story of which there are many versions.

Takata taught 22 Reiki Masters (teachers) during her lifetime. Shortly before her death she told herstudents that they, too, could and should initiate Reiki Masters. From that time onward there has been
a phenomenal growth in the Reiki community worldwide. The Reiki System

Reiki seeks out all areas in the body that are out of balance or in need of healing ata given moment and It facilitates energy, allowing it to flow into those areas of theanimal body that are in distress. When Reiki is applied to your pet it brings aboutdeep relaxation and a sense of well
-
being.

Reiki facilitates healing on all levels... physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. No animal is ever left “untouched” by Reiki energy. However, to what degree is en-tirely dependent upon the individual animal and his or her own commitment to innerharmony. Reiki also heals patterns that lead to pain sometimes without the animal
even knowing it..

Reiki heals the animal body and emotions, bringing them into balance and pro-moting health, happiness, prosperity and long life. It is one of the greatest gifts thatyou can give your pet. Reiki is compatible with other healing modalities such as tra-ditional veterinary medicine, massage, holistic medicine, etc.

Your pet must feel loved and safe to allow this therapy to unfold. A calm, quiet

almost meditativestate should occur.Occasionally your petwill need stroking ormild massage to calmand reassure him/herbefore the Reiki be-gins. As in humans,Reiki is very helpful torelease old fears andtraumas. A lovingpraise or treat will re-place a bad memorywith a positive one.

The Reiki method is not only for
curing illness. Its true purpose
is to correct the heart mind, keep the body fit and lead ahappy life, using the spiritualcapabilities animals and hu-
mans are born with.

Hello everyone, my name is Soldier, and Iwas at the shelter in Union County when onFebruary 8, 2005 this rescue group thatcalled themselves NCRR arranged for me toget out. They offered me a chance at a newlife, and a family that would love me. OnFebruary 10, 2005 I was rushed to the emer-gency vet’s office for what they called anexploratory surgery. I was so scared, theykept on checking me out, and stuck an IV inmy arm, then I went to sleep. The vetthought I may have Parvo, and later ruledthat out, saying I have enteritis, an inflamma-tion of my intestines. I guess that explainswhy my tummy was feeling so yucky. I heardthem say it would be a miracle if I made itthrough the night. I ate my first can of foodyesterday, and I am doing my best to wag mytail so that everyone knows I will fight hard tolive. Please help my new friends at NCRRI’ve heard that since I’ve been here for fivedays at the emergency clinic that my bills aremounting. Please open your hearts, any do-nations will be greatly appreciated. We willbe updating the medic meter weekly, than-kyou all for your help.
