On April 10, 2010, Community Action Project, the Student GovernmentAssociation, and the office of Community Service, along with manyother student leaders across Quinnipiac University are planning to hold acampus wide service event called “Quinnipiac's Big Event.” The event involves teams of students dedicating several hours of service toHamden and the surrounding areas through non-profit organizations. It is aday to celebrate service and will serve as a “thank you” to our communityand the outstanding work these organizations do each and every day. Ourgoal is to establish 50 service sites with non-profit organizations in andaround the Hamden community.History of the Big Event: The Big Event is the nation’s largest one-day, student-run community serviceevent. It was started at Texas A&M and has since expanded to over onehundred different colleges and universities nationwide.
Quinnipiac’s Big Event:
Saturday April 10, 2009
 Teams of 10 Quinnipiac students volunteering at each site
Performing service between 10:00am and 1:00pm
Students will be transported to and from their sites
 Types of Service:
o
Outdoor work
o
Organizing donations received
o
Spending time with residents
o
Decorating for springtime, painting
o
Organizing materials for an event
o
