Brown1Breena BrownProfessor RiemanEnglish 1101X3 May 2010The Year is Over. How Did it Feel? The semester is almost over and that means I have survived English 1101x. Looking back, itwasnt as hard as I thought I was going to be. I was really nervous in the beginning and was quitefrightened after reading the course syllabus, but the course flew by and although I dont like writingpapers, I did enjoy this class. Professor Rieman gave me some helpful tips to make me a stronger writerand was there to guide me when I struggled. In my Mid Term Reflection essay, I mentioned that was struggling with opening up in PeerWorkshop. I no longer have that problem as I now listen to the advice my classmates give me andcorrect my papers. I know that they are simply trying to help me and not doing anything to purposelyhurt my feelings or embarrass me. My writing is personal and it is difficult for many people to share suchprivate thoughts, but reading your work to others and allowing them to offer suggestions is verybeneficial and can make an essay much stronger. I used to think that receiving criticisms wasembarrassing and so was a person disagreeing with me, but Ive come to realize that everyone isentitled to their own opinions and no one is right or wrong. I have no issue with offering my thoughts inclass when we discuss our readings. I have overcome my shyness and open up to my classmates. My fellow classmates have taught me just as much as Professor Rieman. In Peer Workshop, theywould offer me suggestions about my organization of the paper and what would work better. Also, inreading their essays, it provided me with another way of looking at the topic. I didnt always want to edit
