implementat ion team and government legal counsel, the Regulation provides for
up to a one year delay for the beleaguered wood products sector to comply with
the Act. Worse yet, the stated intent of the delay is to allow Government to
implement a new permit system that will devastate the existing forest industry in
Northern Ontario as well as precluding future economic development
opportuni ties. Permitting was also rejected by the ESA implementation team and is against legal advice.
