as
currentlyproposed,wouldexpandaccesstohealthcaretomillions
of
Americansandattemptstostrengthenthehealthcaresystem.However,Verizonandotherlargeemployersareconcernedaboutprovisionsthatwillhaveanegativefinancialimpact
on
largeemployersand/ortheiremployees.Additionally,thereareprovisionsthatwillcauseadditionaladministrativecomplexityandcostandERISAerosion.Ofparticularconcern
is
thatlargeemployers,likeVerizon,thatofferhealthcarecoveragewould
be
requiredto
be
responsibleforpayingforthecostofgeneralreformthroughincreasedemployertaxesandwhilecontinuingtopayforhealthcarecoveragethatmaygoup
in
costduetoshifting
of
increasedtaxes/feesfromtheproviderandinsuranceindustriestoemployers/employees.Belowisalistoftheprovisionsthatwouldhavesignificantimpact
on
employerprovidedhealthcarecoverage.

Elimination

Thisprovisionwouldeliminate
an
employer'sabilitytodeduct

amountequaltotheMedicareRDSthattheemployerreceivesformaintainingretireeprescriptiondrugcoveragethat
is
