PRESS RELEASENational Campaign Against Fees and Cuts
Westminster University ostracizes student activist Simon Hardy
London, 6
May 2010After the abominable persecution of the infamous Sussex Six (University of Sussex)back in March, student-campaigners witch-hunt is now taking place at WestminsterUniversity.Simon Hardy, a
National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts
(NCAFC) activist andNo-Cuts campaigner at Westminster, has been summoned to a preliminaryinvestigation concerning the occupation of the Vice Chancellors offices in earlyMarch. This occupation, organised in protest against the planned job losses at the university, was widely supported by students across campus. The university management claims to have received complains concerning trespassand threatening behaviour. These accusations are clearly politically motivated and aim to single out one of theprominent members of the No-Cuts campaign. Similar to what occurred at Sussex, the victimization of a highly visible student-activist is used as an authoritarianmanagement’s technique to oppress the student voice and smother resistance to theproposed cuts. There will be a
solidarity demonstration
outside Westminster University RegentsStreet campus at 1.30pm on
Friday, 7th May
