Hype: What you're about to read could change your life. Truth is, I don't know for sure, but it sure changed mine. I wrote the novel(s) to give readers a different understanding of the conflict between East and West, and how an Antichrist-like character could convince the modern world to follow him. My favorite authors weave their lessons into their stories (we learn better that way), which is what I've tried to accomplish with Something Coming. It burned inside me for ten years until finally written. Now it wants me to share with the people it's meant for.
The first book is mostly plot and character development, and exploration of the history of Mt. Nemrut and its kings. By the end, the stage is set for world peace and the return -- or Second Coming -- of one of those kings: Antiochus Epiphanes. If you know about Antiochus, you might have just gasped: He is said to be the Antichrist of the prophet Daniel's vision; committed atrocities against the Israelites under his rule and almost destroyed their religion. True, and he makes a compelling character who might actually be out to save the world through a devious plan for mass enlightenment.
Antiochus was notorious, and brilliant, and cut down before accomplishing his master plan to rule the world. In Something Coming he's back, having learned from previous mistakes and ready to engineer his rebirth. He calls his queen to his side to help him make the transformation from spirit to flesh; awakens his reincarnated followers to their true identities as reborn souls. And works the media masterfully to create and fulfill prophetic expectations of the Second Coming.
Western readers might find this surprising, but many other religions are expecting the return of a great leader. What if one figure fulfilled all of those expectations? And what if the rise of this world figure also looked to fundamentalists like the machinations of the Antichrist? I could go on, but you have enough to think about. Get busy reading!
