What is Loneliness?

Loneliness is falling asleep at night

Clutching on to your pillow
As if your life depended on it

Loneliness is waking up in the morning

Thinking of that one person
And knowing she’s not thinking of you

Loneliness is finding a reason

To pull yourself out of your bed
Now that she isn’t there to do it for you

Loneliness is trying to get through the day

Without crying in front of her, or anyone else
Even though it’s the only thing you want to do

Loneliness is putting on a pretend smile

So they’ll stop asking if you’re okay
And you can stop lying about it

Loneliness is shuffling all the way home

And getting your sorry ass online
