they spoke, Hadhrat Umar%@#%j noticed Umayr binWahab settling his camel at the door of the Masjid and carrying a sword aroundhis neck. Hadhrat Umar

xclaimed, "That dog and enemy of Allaah Umayrbin Wahab is up to no good. It was he who caused trouble during the Battle ofBadr and who estimated our numbers for the enemy."

Nabi of Allaah!The enemy of Allaah Umayr bin Wahab has come with a sword hanging from hisneck. Rasulullaah

of
Umayr bin Wahab's sword and pulled him towardsRasulullaah by the collar. He then said to the men of the Ansaar who werewith him, "Go to Rasulullaah and sit with him. Watch this wretch closely forhe cannot be trusted." He then brought Umayr bin Wahab to Rasulullaah

he greeted with thewords, "Blessed is your morning." This was the manner in which people greetedduring the Period of Ignorance. Rasulullaah

said, "Allaah has blessed uswith a greeting better than your greeting,

Umayr. He has blessed us with thegreeting of Salaam which
is
the greeting of the people of Jannah." 'Well," saidUmayr, "By Allaah! This
is
new to me,

Muhammad." Rasulullaah

asked,'What brings you here,
0
Umayr?" Umayr replied, "I have come regarding thisprisoner that you have with you. Please be kind to him." Rasulullaah

asked,'Why then the sword around your neck?" Umayr cursed, "These swords! Havethey ever done us any good?!" Rasulullaah

said, "Tell me the truth. Whathave you come for?" "I have come only for this," lied Umayr.Rasulullaah

then said to him, 'You and' Safwaan bin Umayyah weresitting in the Hateem and discussing what had happened to the people of thewell when you said, 'Had it not been for my debts and the family

have,
I
would have gone to kill Muhammad

afwaan then assumedresponsibility for your debts and your family if you would kill me. However,Allaah stands between you and

Umayr bin Wahab Accepts Islaam and GivesDa'wah to the People
of
Makkah
Umayr exclaimed,

testify that you are certainly the Rasool of Allaah.

they do not accept,

shall cause harm to them because of their religion as

knew that Umayrhad become involved in the very thing he feared and had forsaken his religion.

shall never speak to him again and never do a good turn to him or his family."

found itlocked. Hearing my footsteps, my mother shouted, 'Stay where you are,

then heard the pattering of water (as my mother took a bath to acceptIslaam). She then wore her clothes and hastily donned a scarf. She opened thedoor and said,

testify that there

According to another narration, Hadhrat Abu Hurayra

sed to say, "ByAllaah! Whenever any male or female Muslim hears my name, they take

liking to me." "How do you know this?" the narrator asked. He then mentionedthat he used to invite his mother to Islaam and the narration continues like theone mentioned above. However, this narration states at the end,
