Today, most everyone has a range of siloed tools, like email, IM, project management, document management. They’re good tools, but they don’t work together. Also, most companies aren’t using new methods of collaboration that we use every day… just not at work. There is a hole today in the spectrum of communication tools. At one end you have email which is an offline private tools, and at the other end you have IM or Voice, which are real-time private tools. By private, I mean that you have to consciously add people to the discussion. People can’t join or follow if they’re not invited. So what sits in-between? Well, how about a “wall” or “threaded discussions” just like you use on Facebook? Ever since Facebook launched it changed the way we communicate with our friends. We don’t have to send them email, we can post and participate in others lives. Why can’t we collaborate like that at work?
