HomePlug AV Compliance & Interoperability (C&I) Update

Program Overview
• Program Components
• Compliance testing to verify silicon solutions meet the requirements of the AV
specification.
• Interoperability testing to verify products are interoperable with minimum
performance levels. Products must use a silicon solution that has passed the
Compliance testing.
• Vendor application for HomePlug TM and license.
• Program Phases
• Phase 1 – Product Identification Program
• Ensures products bearing the “Designed for HomePlug AV” product identifier
are designed to meet the requirements of the HomePlug AV specification.
• Phase 2 – Certification
• Testing based on AV specification version 1.0
• Products tested in Phase 1 must be retested. A grace period will be allowed.
• Successful completion of testing allows vendors to use HomePlug AV
certification logo.
• Testing tentatively scheduled for Q1 ‘07
• Phase 3 – Certification Testing Enhancement
• Products tested in Phase 2 must be retested. A grace period will be allowed.
• Testing based on AV specification version 1.1
• Testing tentatively scheduled for Q2 ‘07

HomePlug Certification Plugfest Completed in August


• HomePlug is the only powerline alliance certifying products
• 20 new products certified (Ethernet adapters, DVR, Audio adapters, etc)
• Volume Shipments of HomePlug products will accelerate further with new
product introductions

HomePlug Around the World


• Global: 24 service providers now shipping product based on HomePlug
• Japan: 200+ attendees at HomePlug event in July. Strong interest in
HomePlug in Japan
• Europe: Berlin seminar scheduled for Nov. 14. Expect 100+ attendees.
