The Life (1891-1979)
The years of training.
Pier Luigi Nervi was born in Sondrio June 211891, by Antonio and Luisa Bartoli, from Savona.Due to the work of his father, director post, spenthis youth in several cities of Italy, until he enrolledin the faculty of engineering at the University ofBologna, where he graduated July 28 of 1913

Attilio Muggia (1860-1936). Born in Venice, he moved with hisfamily in Bologna where he graduated in 1885 in civil engineeringand architecture. University professor, taught until 1935, forming alegion of professionals, some of whom became famous (Nervi,Vaccaro, Mazzoni, Miozzi, etc.). Played an intense occupation,contributing role in the spread of reinforced concrete in Italy,according to the Hennebique. He was director general of the Societyfor Construction Cementizie founded in 1903, which performedmore than 3500 works up to 1924 years of settlement, and workedin Italy, especially in Bologna, Florence and La Spezia. The activity of these early years is characterizedby continuous testing of a technique, thereinforced concrete, which seems to haveunlimited borders, yet largely to be explored.His work is hectic efforts are the years in whichthe young PL Nervi work on a massive addition toFlorence, where the structure makes the coverageof the cinema hall of Alhambra (1919-1921) inPiazza Beccaria, in San Vincenzo (LI), with theconstruction of silos load of limestone for theservice of Solvay , and also in nearby Prato, atown in the middle of textile industrial revolution,with the birth and development of many textilecompanies. These need to quickly build largebuildings for the production, and the Company forConstruction Cementizie responds with thepossibilities offered by new technology ofreinforced concrete. With so much work, the roleand the emoluments of PL Nervi inside thecompany remain unchanged, hence the decisionin 1923 to connect companies with RodolfoNebbiosi of Rome, already holds a constructioncompany, and is the "Soc. Ingg. Nervi andNebbiosi that remain active until 1932. Obviouslythe relationship with the company become oldargument, especially since he was denied thechance of being recognized paternity of theprojects carried out for this, the seat of Florence.But his relations with the city are still very strong,as demonstrated by the number of jobs here thatwill run in the catalog of Nervi & Nebbiosi, andwhich are not due to the Nebbiosi knowledge thatresides permanently in Rome. The Nervi & Bartoli proposing alightweight walkway absolutely no decorations, asingle span of 60 meters of clear light, formed bytwo arches with slightly different curvatureintersected middle, where the armor in iron form akind of zipper.
