1989 Heimlich Institute "Save A Life Award"

According to the documents, on August 3, 1986, then-Destin, FL fire chief Terry Watkins rescued 4-year-old drowning victim Shawn Alexander by spontaneously choosing to apply the Heimlich maneuver. According to the Destin Log:

'Watkins had read an article about the effectiveness of the
Heimlich maneuver on drowning victims, and performed the
maneuver three limes on Shawn. "Each time about a cup of
water came out of his lungs. The third time he coughed up
white foam and started crying," Watkins said.'
