Andrew, Thanks for the email. As I have told news outlets, we are the author of the letter. There is noquestion that Jay has a long history on this subject, in fact just a couple of weeks ago he penned a widely distributed op-ed in the Seattle Times. In the end the letter isn’t the issue, just a cynical ploy to keep the media fromtalking about what is at stake here. While I know you and your organizationdisagree (NTU webpage), we believe internet service providers are spendingmillions of dollars on this issue because they know that by changing thestatus quo, which the FCC is trying to keep in place, they will be able tocontrol the pipes of information into people’s homes, determine the winnersand losers online and gouge consumers. Thanks again and have a great day.RobertRobert KellarCommunications DirectorRep. FCC Letter
Robert,I saw last week’s article in
The Hill
where you explained the authorship of Congressman Inslee’sletter on the FCC reclassification issue. In it, you stated that you had “typed over a documentwith someone else’s meta tag,” apparently referring to a May 7
th
Word document sent to you bythe advocacy group Free Press. Would you be willing to send to me, or otherwise make public, acopy of the May 7
th
letter sent to you by Free Press?I’m writing about this issue today and want to make sure that I am fair in my characterization of the events. If it was an honest mistake in overwriting a document with someone else’s meta tag, then I would assume you’d be willing to make the original public so as to prove that the content inMr. Inslee’s letter was indeed a product of your staff. Please get back to me as soon as possible, as I hope to publish something later this afternoon.I’d like to include your response in that piece. Thanks.Andrew Moylan
