Climate Change in the Champlain Basin

We have reviewed this report on climate change in the Lake ChamplainBasin released by The Nature Conservancy and would like to provide theollowing endorsement rom the Lake Champlain Ecosystem Team:This report provides a much needed summary o how climate changeinuences habitats and biodiversity in the Lake Champlain basin. The area has already endured climate-related increases in temperature and precipi-tation over the past 30 years and these inuences are expected to grow throughout the 21st century. Natural resource agencies will beneft romknowing about the projected impacts o climate change on key ecosystemand species assemblages as provided in this report. We believe this reportrepresents a signifcant contribution to the conservation community asthey begin to plan and respond to the current and uture impacts o climate change on the Lake Champlain Basin. The mission o the Lake Champlain Ecosystem Team is to maintainand enhance the ecological integrity o the Lake Champlain watershed. This is accomplished by enhancing interdisciplinary cooperation andpartnerships among ederal, state and local conservation organizations andacademic institutions and by acilitating biological resource conservationactivities, exchanging inormation and seeking unding.Sincerely,
*This endorsement represents the views o the Lake Champlain Ecosystem Team,as presented by its co-chairs Eric Howe and William Ardren, and does not neces-sarily represent the views o the Lake Champlain Basin Program or the U.S. Fishand Wildlie Service.
