Hi Folks, ae
Thanks everyone for singing up and sending checks.Nice
to have working capital again,The strawberry meeting is history.
Though it was a good informative meeting the speaker was a
NPK man@#hemical pusher). He and I got into several arguments
Which I eventually held my peace,However I did yawn several
times to give the impression I was bored.¥es,we will be planting
strawberries but organiceih
Last week we recieved a,55 gal. tote of fish emul§ion
(your funds at work) at tiMeS we get a whiff of something
fishy. The plan is to spray ‘this direc'ly on the seed bed before
planting. We also want ‘to do a better job of foliar feeding.
In the past we've had issues with spraying. The best time to
foliar feed is in the evening and the weather must be just
right. The ‘plants can't be wet also it can't be just before
a rain.Years ago I started out with a hand pump sprayer -that
was't even close to doing the job. After several years of
frustrations I advanced to 0 packback sprayer,still f was
always behind in spraying.Eventually we purchased a real
humdinger of a sprayer-with a 4 hp motor,a 15 gal. tank, 25
ft. hose,what??hat"s right I still’ could't keep up.That sprayer
was on two wheels though it worked great it was hard to manage
one person pulling another running the nozzle.Tt was too slow
But now lasty#bought the king of sprayers,or so 1 thought,
A motorized backpack sprayer! This dude had some pressure
plus T could walk quickly up and down the rows.Sadly,it only
held 4gai of liquid it diaint go very far.I spent a lot of
time walking to and from the field to refill.Plus the sucker
was so heavy when T took it offmy back T would almost fall
on my face.Last fall I took my sprayer woes to other farmers
for evaluation. They said buy a real. sprayer, duh! One with
two big wheels -hitch two horses to it-a 20foot boom-high
pressure pump-Shp motor-100gal. tank-2300 dollars.Guess what
folks we're getting one(your funds at work)We'll keep you
posted.It's late-bedtime.cut Nacht.
