Guang Guo is Dr. George and Alice Wells Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill. Over the past 10 years he has focused on incorporating molecular genetics and epigenetics into the
studies of fundamental sociological issues such as social and health behavior in humans, production of social
stratification, and bio-ancestry and social construction of racial and ethnic identity.
His talk will start with a brief review of the advances in molecular genetics and epigenetics relevant to social
sciences. Then he will describe his own studies that show how genetic and environmental/social delinquency jointly
and interactively influences risky health behaviors and racial identity in the US.
