What is cyber crime?

In simple way we can say that cyber


crime is unlawful acts where in the
computer is either tool or target.
Definition
Cyber crimes as” acts that are
punishable by the information
technology Act” would be unsuitable
as the Indian penal code also cover
many cyber crimes
Cyber crime involves criminal activities
that are traditional in nature such as…
 Theft

 Hacking

 Fraud

 Forgery

 Child pornography etc.


Category of cyber crime
There are two category of cyber
crime..

 The computer as target. Ex. Hacking,


virus / worm etc.
 The computer as weapon. Ex. Cyber
terrorism, credit card fraud.
Who are cyber criminals?
 Children and adolescent between the
age 6 to 18 years.
 Organized hacker.
 Professional hacker/ crackers
 Discontented employees.
