CEU client paper:
Who’s afraid of the iPad?
How do you think the iPad will impact what we do?
Even beore Apple CEO Steve Jobsocially announced the launch date o Apple’s iPad on 3 April 2010 there had been considerable debate as to how a‘tweener’ tablet might impact businessand customer alike.Would anyone buy something too bigor a pocket, but not designed or adesk? What could such a device beused or? Could a reading slate be thesaviour o publishing?During some o our recent clientworkshops we have been asked these, and other, questions about what theiPad might indicate or how customerengagement is changing. So we thoughtwe’d collectively share our thoughts. Each CEU consultant was asked toprovide a ew words on what they think might be the impact o the iPad ontheir specialist area. The iPad went on sale in the US onthe 3 April and in its rst month soldover 1 million units, 12 million appsrom the App Store and 1.5 millione-books. Higher than expectedsales led to the International releasedate being delayed until late Mayin order to meet the US demand. It looks like the iPad is likely to openup a market space in exactly the sameway as both the iPod and iPhonehave done, so our question to you is:“could the iPad oer you a businessopportunity?”
